Halfhouse

Edril is a resident—a prisoner—of Halfhouse in Aldercross, an orphanage that sits just west of the Split, the invisible border that divides the Order-controlled side of the city.

Though he is supposed to stay in the house or on the grounds at all times, he sneaks out nearly every night to talk to Caaden, a child of the wealthy Hock family. Caaden shows Edril all kinds of magic and wonder from every corner of Orn, upon the tiled rooftops and within the shaded parks on the west side of the city.

But when Bettis, Edril's best friend and ally at Halfhouse, finally moves out on Change Day, Edril is left alone to discover the secrets of the city, the orphanage, and the entire history of Orn with only the help of Caaden, a fragile ally who has a set of interests entirely his own.

What Edril discovers will change the course of the Order lands, and the rest of Orn, forever.
